Braemar
Ship Description

Elegant but not stuffy' best describes the atmosphere you'll discover on board Braemar. Expansive windows, large open decks and terraces, as well as a spectacular five-deck atrium create a sense of space noticeably absent from so many of today's cities that go to sea. Enhancing the stylish mood are polished woods and gleaming brass, set off by gentle lighting and rich fabrics in soft, tasteful hues.
Following a significant period of drydock at Hamburg's Blohm + Voss, Fred. Olsen reintroduced the now 23,000-ton, 968-passenger Braemar in July 2008. In many ways, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines used as a model its Balmoral, which in early 2008 received a significantly major refurbishment and expansion.
Among the changes:
The ship was lengthened by adding a 31.2 meter (336 square ft.) mid-section.
70 cabins and suites were added.
A refurbished and expanded sun deck includes an entirely new pool area.
Deck 5, one of its primary areas for public venues, gets the Morning Light Pub treatment (the pub concept, a first for Fred. Olsen, was first introduced on Balmoral). There's also a new library, card and games room and Internet center. Above, on Deck 7, a new arts and crafts room will host Fred. Olsen's highly regarded ArtsClub activities.
Braemar's voguish Thistle restaurant is as dignified as the food is distinguished. In the informal Palms Café a tropical mood is captured by a profusion of palms and specially commissioned murals. In both you will find an attentive crew on hand to ensure passengers are treated as the very important guests they are whilst our award-winning chefs creating cuisine to suit the palate, not the budget.
The cosy Braemar Lounge and other public rooms and bars retain an atmosphere of refined elegance - ideal for meeting fellow passengers, indulging in a game of bridge or catching up on that best-seller.
In the evening, relax and be entertained in the Neptune Lounge whose shimmering stage backdrop highlights spectacular cabarets. Port lectures, classical music and dancing takes place in the charming Coral Club whilst the Skylark Club's glass doors lead onto a sculptured terrace, the perfect venue for dancing the night away under the stars.
