Sydney is one of Australia’s most exciting and vibrant cities, and is a great place to explore as part of a cruise holiday. It’s also a great place to begin or end your cruise holiday to allow you to spend a few extra days checking out all the things the city has to offer.

One great thing about Sydney is the proximity of the cruise ports to the main attractions of the city. One of the cruise ports, where small and medium size ships can dock, is sandwiched between the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Imagine waking up and stepping out onto your balcony and being greeted with incredible views of these world famous icons. You’d have the luxury of being docked at the centre of the heart of the city, within easy proximity to the best things the city has to offer.

If you’re visiting Sydney for just a day or two as part of a cruise holiday then you might want to consider seeing as much as possible in a short time by taking one of the city sightseeing bus tours. Sydney has various companies which offer this type of hop-on, hop-off service, but the biggest and most famous is the large red buses that you’ve undoubtedly seen in many cities and holiday destinations around the world. They’re a great way to see a city as large as Sydney in just a day or two.

If you’re looking to explore one of the relaxed and peaceful areas of the city then head to Sydney’s Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the lush green areas of the gardens and then walk along to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, where you can enjoy some of the best views of the city, especially at sunset.

If you’ve visited Sydney before, or just don’t want to spend a day in a busy city, take one of the quick ferries to Manly Beach or Bondi Beach and enjoy spending a day soaking up the chilled out beach town atmosphere. The ferry ride to either of these places is also one of the most picturesque ferry rides I’ve ever taken! Both Bondi and Manly are famous for their beautiful white sandy beaches, and Bondi is considered one of the surfing capitals of the world and had been the backdrop for many popular TV shows.

If you’re looking to do something extra special in Sydney, perhaps to celebrate something, then you might consider taking one of the sea plane trips around the harbour and over the city. You get to see the city from above, taking in the sights of the city from a unique and exciting viewpoint that very few people get to enjoy.

Sydney is a city with something to offer everyone, there’s so many attractions to suit people of all ages and interests and something to keep everyone busy on a visit to the city.
