March saw the launch of the latest liner to join the MSC fleet – MSC Preziosa. MSC Preziosa is said to be an ‘enhanced’ version of sister ships MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia and is said to be identical to MSC Divinia. With capacity for just under 4,000 passengers and over 1,300 crew, there is no denying MSC Preziosa is a big ship.
It has exciting, modern features which you wouldn’t think that would be possible on a cruise ship. A Formula 1 simulator, a theatre going by the name of Platinum, a children’s aqua park, the longest single-rider water slide at sea, a sports and bowling diner and many more.
Passengers can pick from seven different restaurants on board, including three main restaurants. Preziosa also has an adult only space on board, which features an express spa service menu and a bar. Surely the perfect spot for adults to relax away from the children!
The ship was originally commissioned by Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan dictator however, money issues stopped it from becoming his. It was then bought over by MSC and the deck plans were altered in order to meet their needs. Gaddafi had originally planned for there to be a shark tank on board, amongst a host of other extreme features!
MSC Preziosa has a number of luxury features and details which are sure to appeal to passengers. It has grand Swarovski encrusted staircases, an infinity pool with incredible views out to sea and the seclusion of MSC Yacht Club’s suites, dedicated butler services and private decks.
MSC Yacht Club is described as ‘a ship within a ship’ and gives guests access to private upper decks of the ship where they are treated to round the clock butler service. There is also a dedicated panoramic lounge with stunning views, a private pool complex complete with a solarium and bar for exclusive use of MSC Yacht Club passengers and a library.
Passengers also enjoy priority embarkation and disembarkation, bespoke shore excursions, a luxury pillow menu and much, much more. These are all features which MSC will be hoping set them a little apart from many of the other cruise companies out there.
The ship will be sailing around the western Mediterranean until November, with the Italian port of Genoa being her homeport until then. Why not have a look at what exciting itineraries are available on board MSC Preziosa and try this new ship out for yourself.
