Only one cruise line can profess to having four ‘Queens’ in their fleet and that is Cunard. The Queen Victoria is a shining example of luxury combined with traditional British style cruising. In 2007, she was unveiled to provide ‘Old World’ charm by reflecting the past amongst the modernity of the 21st Century cruise ship.
The Queen Victoria was last renovated in June 2017
During this extensive refit, enhancements were made to several areas of the ship, including the addition of Britannia Club staterooms, upgrades to the Grand Suites and Penthouse Suites, and new dining options. The renovation also included updates to the ship’s public areas and some technological improvements.

Unique Features of Queen Victoria
When you step aboard the Queen Victoria, you can’t help but feel the charm and elegance of the old transatlantic liners. The ship is full of rich designs with heavy woods and marble, plus a bit of glitz to make things sparkle. The theme of the ship highlights the long history of cruising, especially with Cunard, which is famous for its steamship cruises.
You’ll see photos of past celebrities and famous figures who sailed with Cunard all around the ship. There are several compelling reasons to book a Cunard cruise on the Queen Victoria.
🛳️ Pro Tip:
On Queen Victoria, I love spending time in the Winter Garden. It’s a bright and cozy space with a retractable roof, perfect for chilling out with a book or enjoying a drink, rain or shine.
Cabins
The Queen Victoria can hold over 2,000 passengers and has over a thousand cabins, with more than half offering balconies. The cabins come in various categories, from small but cozy rooms with twin beds and balcony cabins to Grand Suites with over 2,000 square feet of space. If you’re travelling alone, there are single cabins designed specifically for solo travellers, providing a comfortable and convenient option without needing to book a double occupancy cabin.
Your cabin will be equipped with modern amenities like a flat-screen TV with international channels, a fridge, a hairdryer, a safe, a phone, and a daily newsletter about ship activities. Standard cabins have a small shower, while the pricier rooms offer bathtubs.
Dining
Cunard has put a lot of effort into dining options on the Queen Victoria. If you’re staying in the Queens Grill or Princess Grill suites, you’ll have access to exclusive restaurants and private lounges. A lovely tradition is the high tea served in the Grills every afternoon.
For other dining, the two-story Britannia Restaurant serves casual fare in a friendly setting. The Lido Café offers buffet-style dining, and the Verandah on Deck Two provides sophisticated, contemporary cuisine under the direction of renowned Chef Jean-Claude Zimmermann.
You’ll also find several lounges onboard, including Churchill’s Cigar Lounge.
Entertainment
There’s no chance of getting bored on the Queen Victoria. Every night, you can enjoy various shows, from Celtic dance performances to a comedic look at Victorian-era life in the show “Victoriana.” The Hemispheres nightclub has a great mix of music to get you dancing.
The casino, though not huge, has all the standard games if you feel like trying your luck.
Other Interests
The Queen Victoria is home to the “world’s first floating museum,” giving you a peek into Cunard’s rich history. There are also two swimming pools where you can cool off after a day of exploring. If you have kids, they can have fun at the children’s club.
For some relaxation, head to the luxurious spa and fitness centre. The spa offers treatments like facials, oxygen therapy, “aroma soul” massages, and deep tissue scrubs to make you feel rejuvenated. The fitness centre focuses more on health and cardio than muscle building.
