The Evolution of Water Attractions

Carnival Cruise Line has totally changed the game with its awesome water attractions. From simple slides to full-blown water parks, Carnival ships now have thrilling water features for everyone.

From Simple Slides to Elaborate Water Parks

It all started back in 1978 when Carnival added its first waterslide to the Festivale (which has since been scraped in 1996). This small step led to bigger and better things.

By 1990, the Carnival Fantasy introduced a 115-foot waterslide, setting a new standard for fun on cruise ships.

Carnival’s Pioneering Role in Cruise Ship Water Attractions

Carnival kept pushing the limits. In 1996, the Destiny (now Carnival Sunshine) wowed everyone with its 214-foot corkscrew waterslide. This sparked a trend, with other cruise lines following suit and adding their own water attractions.

The Introduction of WaterWorks™: Carnival’s Signature Water Park

In 2009, Carnival took things up a notch with the launch of WaterWorks™. This signature water park debuted on the Carnival Ecstasy and Dream.

Now, almost all of Carnival’s 27 ships have WaterWorks™. Carnival keeps innovating, promising even more exciting water attractions on future ships. These water features have truly transformed the cruise experience.
